Visitors to the Vietnam Wall

Welcome Home

The fact that you are reading this means that you may already have taken the first step on the path to recovery.  Unless you are a superhero there are a few clicks to go yet.

This manual grows out of several Vietnam combat veterans' PTSD groups that met at local VA clinics.  Nothing in the manual or on the website is, however, either endorsed or sanctioned by any government agency or private institution.  It is written by a veteran who has been diagnosed with PTSD, and the content on this site is solely his.

Your humble author after 40 years of struggle with his own PTSD learned some lessons that may be useful to other veterans.  While each individual must find his or her own path to health and happiness, to the extent that anything you may find here serves you well, please pay it forward by helping another veteran in any way that you can.

(revised April 2015)

"Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime,
Therefore, we are saved by hope.
Nothing true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history;
Therefore, we are saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone.
Therefore, we are saved by love.
No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or foe as from our own;
Therefore, we are saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness."

   Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)
